Several firearms, ammunition and other illegal items were seized by the RCMP during the execution of a search warrant.
On April 30, 2020 the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST) received information that a man in Watson Lake had acquired the components of an AR-15-style assault rifle. Investigation into the man determined he is currently prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
A search warrant was executed on the man's residence in the early morning hours of May 3, 2020. Based on a risk assessment and the man's history with firearms and threat-related offences, a full Critical Incident Program team consisting of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and other support elements, was deployed to assist.
Jordan Teters, 41, was arrested without incident. During the search of his residence, officers located and seized the following amongst other items:
- components believed to be for an AR-15 assault rifle;
- ammunition;
- an SKS rifle;
- firearms and ammunition manufacturing equipment.
Teters was charged with the following offences:
- Breach Undertaking Section 145(4)(a) Criminal Code
- Unsafe Storage Section 91(3) Criminal Code
- Possess Prohibited Weapon Section 91(3) Criminal Code
- Possess Firearm Without a License Section 92(3) Criminal Code
- Possess Prohibited Weapon Section 91(3) Criminal Code
He has been released by the courts on conditions.
