Saint-Jacques man charged with accessing and possessing child pornography

A 70-year-old man from Saint-Jacques, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into images of child sexual abuse that began in September 2019.

On October 22, 2019, as a result of information received through the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Crime Centre, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Saint-Jacques. Police seized several electronic devices and a 70-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

On March 23, 2020, Joseph Denys Bourque was charged with accessing child pornography and possessing child pornography. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 30, 2020, at 9:30 a.m., to enter a plea.

The New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, which includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, along with RCMP Digital Forensic Services Unit and the Edmundston Police Force were involved in the investigation.
