Saint-Ignace man charged with drug trafficking following search warrant

A 51-year-old man from Saint-Ignace, N.B., has been charged with drug trafficking following the execution of search warrant at a residence in Saint-Ignace.

On June 25, 2020, at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of the Richibucto RCMP, along with members of the Southeast District Crime Reduction Unit, arrested a man following a vehicle stop in relation to a drug trafficking investigation that began in December 2019.

Shortly after the man's arrest, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Gallant Street. A quantity of what is believed to be hydromorphone, along with prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, firearms, and an undisclosed amount of cash were seized.

On June 26, Jean-Marc Gigou appeared in court by way of a tele-remand and was charged with possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on June 29, at 1:30 p.m., for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
