On Monday, March 2nd, Kings District RCMP were joined by Provincial Highway Safety Officers to conduct traffic checkpoints throughout Kings county.

The checkpoints took place in the communities of Three Rivers, Canavoy, and Rollo Bay (near the school on Highway #2).

Over 700 cars were stopped and checked and offence tickets were issued under Highway Traffic Act, including several for speeding in a school zone.

RCMP would like to commend those who travelled through the checkpoints who had proper documentation and drove within the limits of the law. For the others, fines are given to try to help the drivers who do not understand that the limits are put in place for the safety of themselves and others. In school zones, fines are often doubled as the ramifications of speeding in school zones are so serious. Don't put others in danger, especially children. Obey the speed limit.
