PEI RCMP to begin Vulnerable Sector Checks at District offices Monday, July 27

July 24, 2020
Prince, Queens and Kings Counties, Prince Edward Island

News release

PEI RCMP will resume vulnerable sector checks with their front counter services effective Monday, July 27, 2020. There are restrictions/arrangements in each county and anyone requiring the service is asked to ensure you know what is needed of you prior to attending the office of your jurisdiction to assist with the processing of a high volume of requests.

The RCMP are reminding everyone that the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the processes for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks and has caused delays in processing times. Fingerprinting may require a return scheduled appointment and you will be informed of those arrangements if and when they are determined.

To ensure your check is processed as quickly as possible you must:
attend the local detachment where you reside. Other locations will not process applications for persons who do not live within their immediate jurisdiction;
bring a mask with you in the event that social distancing cannot be maintained but you are asked to adhere to social distancing and sanitization;
attendees should bring their own pen.
properly complete the application forms, filling out all fields and providing all relevant information;
have with you the letter from your employer with your current job offer or entity for which you will be volunteering which must be dated within the previous two weeks;
have with you a current job description of the duties required;
bring clear photocopies of your two pieces of government ID with you along with the original ID as we will not be making any copies on your behalf. This would normally be a PEI driver's licence and a PEI Health card;
don't miss your appointment if you are scheduled to return - we are hoping to provide the services to those who need it but missing an appointment means wasting time and rescheduling for another date.

These precautions are in place for the protection of all RCMP employees and the general public, in accordance with public health guidelines and recommendations. Further instructions will be provided upon confirmation of an appointment.
