News release

The investigation into the murder of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe began on June 24, 2020, when Portage la Prairie RCMP officers responded to a call of found human remains near Baker Street.

Following an extensive investigation, the Manitoba RCMP announced two arrests on July 31st, 2020:

On July 29, 2020, RCMP arrested 29-year-old Kyle Evan Sinkovits of Winnipeg. He was charged with First Degree Murder, Forcible Confinement and Indignity to a Dead Human Body. He was remanded into custody and appeared in Winnipeg Provincial Court on July 31, 2020.

On July 30, 2020, RCMP arrested 25-year-old Jonathan Bradley Narvey, of Winnipeg. He was charged with First Degree Murder, Forcible Confinement and Indignity to a Dead Human Body. He was remanded into custody and appeared in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Aug 4, 2020.

Two additional arrests have been made in connection to this homicide.

On August 5th, officers arrested 26-year-old Bobbi Lynn Hall of Winnipeg. She was charged with First Degree Murder, Forcible Confinement and Indignity to a Dead Human Body. She was remanded into custody and appeared in Winnipeg Provincial Court on August 7, 2020.

On August 6th, officers arrested 24-year-old Chelsea O'Hanley of Winnipeg. She was also charged with First Degree Murder, Forcible Confinement and Indignity to a Dead Human Body. She was remanded into custody and appeared in Winnipeg Provincial Court yesterday.

The four people charged in connection to Gerhard's murder are the same people who were captured on surveillance footage at a Portage la Prairie convenience store getting some drinks and food on the morning June 20, 2020.

Further, based on the investigation, it is believed that Gerhard was killed on Alfred Street in Winnipeg and transported to Portage la Prairie by these four individuals.

The excavation and removal of what remains of the residence on Alfred Street, which began on July 21, has concluded and the recovered debris continues to be examined by our Forensic specialists at an off-site warehouse. Evidence has already been recovered from the debris and investigators anticipate that additional evidence will be located as the work progresses.

"It is my hope that the first-degree murder charges against these four individuals brings some closure to Gerhard's young family, his relatives and friends" said Superintendent Michael Koppang, Officer in Charge of Major Crime Services for the Manitoba RCMP. "To have four charges of first-degree murder laid in this investigation speaks to the professionalism and dedication of every single officer and civilian who worked on this file. I want to thank them for their tenacity and perseverance throughout this investigation."

The Manitoba RCMP does not anticipate any further arrests related to this homicide investigation.
