Iqaluit RCMP make another large alcohol seizure

On June 30, 2020, Iqaluit RCMP made another large liquor seizure as part of an on-going Liquor Act investigation into allegations of bootlegging. Police seized a total twenty 60-ounce bottles of liquor from an Iqaluit man.

29-year–old Gabriel Martinez of Iqaluit, NU was arrested and charged under the Nunavut Liquor Act with one count of keeping liquor for sale without lawful authority – Section 84(b) NLA. He was released from custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance on August 20, 2020.

"The police in Nunavut are committed to helping reduce harm in our communities; including the negative impact bootlegging has on Nunavummiut. We encourage you to support our efforts in identifying those who cause harm from bootlegging." said Corporal Jamie Savikataaq.
