Cochrane RCMP investigating fatal pedestrian collision

On Jan. 3, 2020 Cochrane received a complaint of a fatal pedestrian hit and run collision on Morley Road in the Morley Town site. Upon arrival, police located a 40-year-old woman from Morley deceased. Soon after police arrival the individuals in the vehicle returned to the scene and approached police. A 19-year-old woman from Morley is charged with the following;

  • Failure to stop after an accident causing death section 320.16(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Driving without a licence section 54(1)(a) of the Traffic Safety Act
  • Driving without Insurance 51(a) of the Traffic Safety Act

The investigation into the cause of the collision continues; however, police believe speed played a roll, and further charges are pending. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision.
