Update: Tyson Young turned himself in to police on September 30, 2020.
Burin Peninsula RCMP is currently looking for 27-year-old Tyson Young of Marystown who is wanted in relation to a number of criminal charges.
On September 22, 2020, an off-duty RCMP officer was driving in his personal vehicle on McGettigan Boulevard in Marystown and witnessed the driver of a vehicle, traveling directly behind him, assaulting a passenger within that vehicle. Both occupants were known to the officer, who stopped his personal vehicle, approached the driver, Tyson Young, and identified himself as a police officer. The officer informed Young about what he had just witnessed and directed him to stay put while he contacted the local detachment for assistance; however, Young sped away in his vehicle.
Police located the victim and ensured the person's well-being.
Young, who is currently before the court in relation to other criminal charges, is now wanted on a warrant for charges of assault, obstruction of justice and failing to comply with a court order. He has been actively avoiding arrest.
