Bay St. George RCMP continues traffic enforcement, seizing vehicles and apprehending impaired drivers

Bay St. George RCMP continues to conduct traffic enforcement and seized three vehicles within 24 hours between June 12-13, 2020, for various offences including impaired driving.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on June 12, Bay St. George RCMP received a report of someone driving an unregistered vehicle. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Orchard Lane in Kippens. The driver, a 25-year-old Lourdes man, was driving without registration and without insurance. He was ticketed for those offences and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on June 13, Bay St. George RCMP was on patrol in Stephenville and conducted a traffic stop on Hillview Avenue. The driver, a 40-year-old Stephenville Crossing man, was driving while suspended and without insurance. He was ticketed for those offences and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on June 13, Bay St. George RCMP was on patrol in Piccadilly and observed a vehicle speeding on the Main Road. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 30-year-old Corner Brook man, showed signs of impairment. He failed a roadside breath test, was arrested for impaired driving and was transported back to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were above the legal limit. Police issued a driver's licence suspension and released the man from custody. He is set to appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving. The vehicle was seized and impounded.
