Bay St. George RCMP charges man and seizes vehicle

June 19, 2020
Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

A 33-year-old Stephenville Crossing man with no driver's licence is now without his vehicle and faces a court date for charges under the Highway Traffic Act following a traffic stop conducted on Wednesday by Bay St. George RCMP.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on June 17, 2020, an officer patrolling Route 490 observed a vehicle being operated by a man known to police as an unlicensed driver. A traffic stop was conducted and, in addition to the driver not having a licence, the vehicle was not insured. Given the fact that the man has been ticketed for similar offences in the recent past, police provided the man with a court date instead of tickets to answer to these new charges. The vehicle was seized and impounded.

RCMP NL continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
