A 54-year-old man from St. Stephen, N.B., has been charged following two robberies at two local banks in the community.
On September 8, 2020, Gene Richard Boles appeared in court by way of tele-remand and was charged with one count of robbery. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Saint John Provincial Court on September 10, at 9:30 a.m.
On September 7, 2020, shortly after 10 a.m., a woman using the ATM inside the Scotiabank branch on Milltown Boulevard in St. Stephen was approached by a man who demanded money, claiming he had a weapon. The man left with an undisclosed amount of money.
At about 2 p.m. the same day, a woman who was at the CIBC on King Street was approached by a man who tried to grab her wallet. The woman was assaulted, but did not suffer serious injuries. The man fled on foot with the woman's purse and wallet.
At approximately 7:20 p.m., the individual was located in a parking lot on King Street, hiding from police. He was arrested without incident and taken into custody.
