Between September 25 and 27, Pictou District RCMP charged three drivers for stunting on Hwy 104 in Pictou County.
On September 25 at noon, a 24-year-old man from New Glasgow was charged with Stunting after he was seen driving a vehicle at 174 km/hr (64 km/hr above the posted speed limit). Another vehicle was seen travelling 148 km/hr (38 km/hr above the speed limit) and the driver was given a speeding ticket.
On September 26 at approximately 11:50 p.m., a 23-year-old man from Moncton was charged with Stunting after he was seen driving 174 km/hr (64 km/hr above the posted speed limit).
On September 27, at approximately 1:35am, an 18-year-old man from Merigomish was charged with Stunting after he was seen driving 176 km/hr (66 km/hr over the speed limit). An additional vehicle was seen travelling 166 km/hr (38 km/hr above the speed limit) and the driver was given a speeding ticket.
The fine for Stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50. The RCMP wants to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road safety is a priority for police, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
