On February 10, 2019, at approximately 6:20 am, Thompson RCMP responded to a domestic call at a residence in the community. Upon arrival, the male suspect had already fled. Officers were advised that the suspect had kicked in the door of the residence, threatened the female victim and then left the scene. Officers actively investigated the incident making all efforts to locate the suspect.
On February 11, 2019, at approximately 2:30 am, Thompson RCMP responded to a domestic call at the same residence. Officers were advised that the male suspect had returned, kicked in the door once again and was currently inside. Officers were also advised that there were children in the residence.
When officers arrived, yelling could be heard and they entered the residence. As they entered, the officers located the male suspect armed with a knife who had a hold on the victim. The suspect let go of the victim and came towards the officers with the knife in his hand. Officers gave verbal commands to the suspect but he ignored them and urged the officers to 'shoot' him.
Officers continued to give verbal commands and deployed the CEW (Conducted Energy Weapon) several times. The suspect dropped the knife and was taken into custody.
The 29-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with;
- Break and Enter x 2
- Assault with a Weapon x 2
- Assault on Police Officer with a Weapon x 2
- Uttering threats
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Resisting Arrest
- Mischief
- Theft
The victim nor any of her children were injured as a result of this incident.
