This morning at approximately 1:40 am, RCMP received a report of a house fire on 4th Avenue, in McCreary, Manitoba. Initial reports from witnesses indicated that the house was fully engulfed and there were people trapped inside.
With assistance from community members from the Citizens on Patrol Program, and a 28-year-old female occupant of the residence, a 3-year-old child was rescued from the house and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 28-year-old female was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A five-year-old child was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The RCMP, along with the Office of the Fire Commissioner, continue to investigate.
