Russell RCMP arrest male for multiple offences

On June 24, 2019, at approximately 2:00 pm, Russell RCMP received a report of an assault and robbery that occurred in the community.

A 56-year-old-male advised that a 39-year-old male had assaulted him, threatened him, and stole some of his belongings.

While officers were on scene, the suspect arrived and began to hit the windows of the police vehicle in an attempt to break them. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect but he resisted and became combative. A conducted energy weapon was deployed and police were eventually able to subdue the suspect and arrest him.

While the suspect was in custody at Russell Detachment, he damaged the cell block area which resulted in additional charges.

Michael Man, of Brandon, Manitoba, has been charged with multiple offences including Robbery, Assaulting a Police Officer, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Mischief. He has been remanded into custody.

RCMP continue to investigate.
