RCMP remind parents old cell phones are not toys

January 16, 2019
Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

Bay Roberts RCMP urge parents not to let their children play with old cell phones.

Over the last month a child called 911 over 200 times on an inactive cell phone. These types of calls take away precious time from someone who may really need it.

An inactive cell phone can dial 911, even if you don't have a plan or pay as you go minutes. Removing the batteries or locking your cell phone will prevent accidental 911 calls.
