October 25, 2019
Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

On October 24, 2019, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP received a report of two overdue hunters in the Millertown and Noel Paul's Brook area. Both men, in their 70's, planned to return to their cabin in the evening on October 23 but failed to show.

The Grand Falls-Windsor Detachment, along with RCMP Air Services, Red Indian Lake Ground Search and Rescue, family and friends of the hunters, local outfitters and cabin owners searched for the two men, who were located in the early afternoon of October 24. They were transported to the A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre in Buchans for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP Grand Fall-Windsor thanks everyone for their assistance in safely locating these two men.

Police remind hunters, when planning a hunting trip, ensure you are prepared with the proper survival kit and first aid supplies in the event of an emergency or poor weather. Pre-plan your route and advise someone of your plans; this is particularly important in areas where communication via cell phone and radio is limited.
