A 21-year-old man from Quarryville, N.B., has been charged with a nine Criminal Code offences in connection with several dangerous driving incidents involving an off-road vehicle.
On four occasions between May 17 and June 29, 2019, members of the Blackville RCMP responded to incidents believed to involve the same ATV driver. During those incidents, the driver failed to stop for police at a checkstop, overtook other vehicles dangerously, trespassed onto private property causing damage, drove the ATV at police officers at high rates of speed, and fled from police.
On June 29, RCMP responded to a complaint of an impaired ATV driver. The driver fled from police and drove the ATV into a ditch before fleeing on foot, when he was apprehended.
Stewart Jardine has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (three counts)
- Flight from a peace officer (two counts)
- Assault on a police officer with a weapon (a motor vehicle)
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 0.08%
- Failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking
Stewart Jardine also faces several infractions under the Motor Vehicle Act. He has been released on conditions and is scheduled to return to Miramichi Provincial Court on August 12.
