Edson RCMP multi-jurisdictional agency project leads to 48 criminal and drug charges

From January 2019, to April 2019, Edson RCMP engaged in an intelligence-led project targeting activities of local street level drug traffickers. Edson RCMP worked alongside Hinton and Jasper RCMP, as well as members from Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams.

As a result of the project, 48 Criminal Code or Controlled Drugs and Substances Act were laid against eight people.

A 45-year-old male was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine x3
  • Possession of proceeds of crime x3
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Breach of court order x3
  • Fail to comply with recognizance x4
  • Fail to comply with probation x2

A 37-year-old male was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine x3
  • Possession of proceeds of crime x3
  • Fail to comply with recognizance x2
  • Possession of methamphetamine

A 51-year-old male was charged with:

  • Trafficking methamphetamine x3
  • Possession of proceeds of crime x3
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Oxycodone

A 53-year-old male was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine X2
  • Possession of proceeds of crime X2

A 36-year-old female was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine X2
  • Possession of proceeds of crime X2

A 44-year-old female was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime

A 39-year-old male was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime

A 19-year-old male was charged with:

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime

The 45-year-old male and the 37-year-old male have been held in custody. The 51-year-old male has been released on cash bail, and the 53-year-old male has been release on a no-cash bail.

The remaining individuals remain at large on outstanding warrants.

As these matters are currently before the courts no further information will be provided.
