On June 11, 2019, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Bay Roberts RCMP received a complaint from a man who reported that his son was abducted after school by the boy's mother.
The man informed police he believed the woman was taking the boy across the island to catch the ferry and leave the province.
RCMP officers across the province, the RNC in Corner Brook, Marine Atlantic and the Labrador Marine Ferry service in St. Barbe, were advised of the situation.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning, Port Saunders RCMP located the woman at the ferry terminal in St. Barbe. She was arrested and has since been released from police custody on conditions. She is scheduled to attend Harbour Grace Provincial Court on August 21, 2019.
Charges of parental abduction are being submitted for approval by the Attorney General through the Provincial Crown Attorney's Office.
