News release

On December 11, 2019, the RNC/RCMP Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Team (IICE) arrested and charged a Bay D'Espoir man for online child exploitation.

The investigation, which has been ongoing since January of 2019, led to the search of a residence in Bay D'Espoir in July of 2019. Subsequent analysis of items seized during that search resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old George Willmott.

Willmott appeared in Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court on December 12, 2019, to answer to charges of possession and transmission of child pornography. He was released on an undertaking with conditions designed to prevent access to youth.

Police encourage parents to monitor online activities of children. Online predators are able to access children anywhere in the world. To learn more about online child abuse, cyberbullying and internet safety, please visit Cybertips.ca, ProtectKidsOnline.ca and or Deal.Org.On
