UPDATE: Suspicious Death Iqaluit – Murder - Suicide

The Nunavut Major Crime Unit has conducted a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the Nunavut Coroner's Office in relation to the May 6 report of a suspicious death at the Tammaativvik Boarding Home in Iqaluit.

On May 6, 2018 police were called to the boarding home in Iqaluit where a female was located with no vital signs. A 22-year-old female from Clyde River has been identified as the homicide victim. During the course of the investigation, the woman's domestic partner, a 31-year-old male was located deceased.

The Nunavut Coroner's Office has ordered autopsies. No other suspects are being sought.

Our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time and grief counselors have been made available through the Nunavut Crisis Response and Trauma Teams.
