Update - Desire-Tesar in custody, multiple arrests: Yellowknife RCMP investigating theft of firearms, ammunition, and jewellery

RCMP have taken Beau Desire-Tesar into custody and transported him back to Yellowknife.

Desire-Tesar was arrested in Westlock, AB under the outstanding arrest warrant issued October 12, 2018 and extradited to Northwest Territories. The warrant was for multiple charges including theft over $5000 and firearms related charges. Desire-Tesar has been remanded to custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 2, 2018.

This is the latest arrest in connection with the theft of firearms, ammunition and jewellery from a Rivett Crescent home during the evening of October 7th and the afternoon of October 8th.

Yellowknife RCMP and the General Investigative Section have been conducting an on-going investigation resulting in the arrests of Desire-Tesar and Toufic Chamas. At this time, seven (7) firearms have been recovered with some firearms still outstanding, along with ammunition, miscellaneous items and jewellery.

RCMP have also arrested two individuals in relation to this incident:

  • Todd Vatcher, 27 of Yellowknife, charged wit Possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime, on October 11, 2018.
  • Francois Parisella, 37 of Yellowknife, charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Accessory after the fact s.463.(b) CC on October 12, 2018.

"The hard work of the members, our investigative sections and the assistance from the public has paid off in the removal of several firearms from our streets and brought those believed responsible into custody. The investigation continues to be active at this time" states Inspector Alex Laporte, Officer in Charge, Yellowknife Detachment.
