Tantallon man faces impaired driving and weapons charges after hitting power pole

A Tantallon man is facing ‎impaired driving and weapons charges after hitting a pole with a pickup truck in Upper Tantallon.

At approximately 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning, Halifax District RCMP responded to the collision on Peggy's Cove Rd. where a power pole was severed.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Tantallon, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was not injured and was arrested for impaired driving. A preliminary investigation showed he was also in unlawful possession of a firearm.

The firearm was seized by police. He was released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday, September 10 at 10 a.m..
