UPDATE – RCMP charge male with Manslaughter in house fire death

UPDATE:

On March 27, 2018, RCMP charged Earl Moar, 19, with Manslaughter in regards to the human remains found inside a residence in O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation (Crane River) in January 2018.

The human remains have been identified, and the victim is a 40-year-old female.

Moar was still in custody as a result of the initial charges of Aggravated Assault, Arson with Disregard for Human Life, Assault, and Breach of Recognizance x 2. He remains in custody.

ORIGINAL:

On January 7, 2017, at approximately 12:47 am, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report of an assault and a fire occurring at the same residence in O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation (Crane River). When officers arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames and the reported female victim of the assault was unaccounted for.

Once investigators were able to enter the residence, human remains were located. Those remains have not yet been identified. Ste Rose du Lac RCMP and the RCMP Major Crime Unit remain on scene conducting the investigation.

RCMP have arrested Earl Moar, 19. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Arson with Disregard for Human Life, Assault and Breach of Recognizance x 2. He is remanded in custody.

The investigation continues.
