On December 2, 2018, Kaleb Slaney, a Children's Wish recipient from Placentia turned a red bulb to white on the RCMP Wish Tree annual tree lighting ceremony in Placentia.

Placentia RCMP have been partnering with the Children's Wish Foundation since 1998 and to date have raised over $46,000! That is enough to grant four wishes to children, like Kaleb, who have a life-threatening illness. Having been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of three, Kaleb is proud to say that after three years of treatments he is now cancer free.

In July 2019, Kaleb's wish will be granted. He will travel with his mom, dad and little sister and enjoy a dream vacation aboard the Disney Fantasy cruise ship. Kaleb's wish is possible because of the funds raised at events like the RCMP Christmas Wish Tree.

With every $10 raised a red bulb on the tree will turn to white. Placentia RCMP hope the only white stuff they see this year is the bulbs on their Wish Tree. Donations will be accepted right up until December 24, 2018.

A fun evening was had by all. Hot chocolate and timbits was provided by Tim Hortons and cookies by Placentia Sobeys. Aylwards Home Hardware donated the lights on the tree and custom tree supports were provided by Patterson's Steel Products to ensure the tree would remain upright for the holidays, even in the high winds.

RCMP Placentia continue to thank the community for supporting the RCMP Wish Tree. Seeing the smile on the faces of children, like Kaleb Slaney, certainly makes it all worthwhile.
