The Town of Mahone Bay recently purchased two mobile speed signs that have been placed in strategic locations within the town. The mobile speed signs use RADAR to calculate the speed of oncoming vehicles and display the speed to the driver with a flashing light when the speed is in excess of the posted limit - a good reminder to slow down. The mobile speed signs also collect data related to vehicle speeds, time of day and traffic volumes. This data will be analysed and shared with the RCMP to help identify areas where excess speed is a concern. This, in turn, will assist the RCMP when planning strategic traffic enforcement within the Town.

Improving road safety is an ongoing concern for the RCMP. To report an unsafe driver, call the police as soon as possible and provide as many details as you can about the vehicle, the driver, and the licence plate number. In an emergency, call 911.
