UPDATE: Inverness District RCMP abduction investigation

News release

On September 18, Inverness District RCMP received a call of an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl near a service station on Highway 105. The RCMP investigated the abduction, with multiple units responding to the scene, making extensive patrols of the area, and a helicopter was also requested to assist.

Upon further investigation, police have determined that the abduction did not happen. The RCMP would like to assure the community that they have no reason to fear any suspects or vehicles as described in this incident. Any suspicious activity should be reported to Inverness District RCMP, Waycobah office, by calling 902 756 3371 or 1-800-803 RCMP (7267).

The investigation is ongoing.
