Man charged in connection with bank robberies

A 49-year-old man from Moncton, N.B. has been charged in connection with four armed robberies at banks in Moncton in August and September 2017 as well as an attempted bank robbery in Moncton on October 5, 2017.

A man was arrested on October 5 near the Omista Credit Union on Cornhill Street in Moncton.

On October 6, Terry Dean Leger appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with four counts of robbery, committing an indictable offence while having his face masked and attempted robbery. He was sent for a 30 day psychiatric assessment. He is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on November 3, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

The charges stem from the Codiac Regional RCMP investigations into the armed robberies that occurred on August 15 at the Advance Savings Credit Union on St. George Street, September 6 and 21 at the UNI bank on St. George Street, September 11 at the Advance Savings Credit Union on Weldon Street and the attempted robbery on October 5 at the Omista Credit Union on Cornhill Street.
