25-year-old man charged in connection with dangerous driving

A 25-year-old man from Lavillette, N.B. has been charged after a dangerous driving incident in Northeastern New Brunswick.

On June 27, 2017, around 10:50 a.m., a driver avoided a police checkstop on Highway 11 near Brantville, about 17 kilometres south of Tracadie-Sheila. The driver fled from police, weaving through traffic. Near Neguac, the driver lost control of the car, sending the vehicle into the ditch. The driver was unharmed, and was arrested at the scene. A passenger in the car, a 24-year-old woman from Canton-des-Basques, was not injured.

Jean Raymond Comeau of Lavillette appeared in court on June 30 and was charged with a number of offences connected with the incident.

Comeau been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 19, 2017.

The investigation is continuing.
