PEI Joint Forces Operations lays charges against three individuals following October seizures in St. Raphael of firearms, illegal drugs, contraband cigarettes and cash

PEI RCMP laid charges against three individuals from St. Raphael stemming from a search warrant that was executed at a residence in the community back in October 2023.

The execution of the warrant was conducted by PEI Joint Forces Operations drug unit comprised of members of the Prince District RCMP, Summerside Police Services, and Kensington Police Services.

The individuals and charges include:

Janice Margaret Rehberg:

  • Unlawful possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Unlawful possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon without being licenced.

Elmer Joseph Emile Gallant:

  • Unlawful possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of a firearm without a licence (12 counts);
  • Storage of a firearm contrary to firearms regulations (2 counts).

Basil John Marvin Gallant:

  • Possession of a firearm without a licence (2 counts)

"The cooperation and joint operation of police agencies on the Island makes a real difference for public safety and leveraging synergy to solve crime," says Superintendent Kevin Lewis, Acting Commanding Officer PEI RCMP. "Bringing the combined resources of three police departments shows just how effective we can be, working as a team, to combat crime in our communities across PEI," adds Lewis.

All three individuals will appear in Summerside Court on January 31, 2024. This investigation is ongoing.
