Wood Buffalo RCMP pursuit ends after two arrests

On June 29th, 2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m. the Wood Buffalo RCMP received a call for help from a concerned citizen in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Two male suspects fled in a white four door sedan and were driving erratically through the residential area. The Wood Buffalo RCMP were quick to respond, located the suspect vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop. The adult male driver was arrested and faces several charges.

While police were placing the driver in custody, the adult male passenger moved to the driver position in the vehicle and fled the scene. Another police officer located the suspect vehicle travelling on Confederation Way, and attempted to initiate another traffic stop. The vehicle fled from police. Out of concern for the safety of others, the RCMP initiated a pursuit with the suspect vehicle. Police deployed a tire deflation device which ended after a short pursuit in the Thickwood area. The adult male driver was arrested and faces several charges.

The two adult male suspects are without injury and are being held in police custody. One civilian vehicle, and two police vehicles sustained minor damages during these incidents. No injuries occurred to anyone in relation to the vehicle pursuit.
