Woman charged in connection with fraud, Brent’s Cove

Members of the RCMP Serious Crime Unit of Corner Brook, working on a complaint from the Town of Brent's Cove, have charged an individual with Fraud over $5,000, Forgery, Uttering a Forged Document and Falsification of Books and Documents.

The investigation began in June 2016 when the RCMP were alerted that a fraud had been committed. Fraudulent activity reported by the Town was discovered by a forensic audit and led to the additional charges. Former town clerk Mrs. Ellen BUTLER is set to appear in Provincial Court in Baie Verte on November 28, 2017, to answer to the charges.
