Chief Superintendant John Baranyi, Criminal Operations Support Officer, O Division (Ontario)

As O Division’s Criminal Operations (CROPS) Support Officer, C/Supt. John Baranyi is responsible for the Border Integrity Program, Protective Operations, Federal Operations Support Branch (FOSB), and Criminal Intelligence.

C/Supt. Baranyi started his RCMP career in March 1997, in Vegreville, Alberta. His early career focused on general duty policing and general investigations. In 2002, C/Supt. Baranyi transferred to Kugluktuk, NU, and subsequently promoted to Detachment Commander in Taloyoak, NU.

In 2006, he transferred to O Division Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (Toronto) and in 2009 moved on to National Headquarters (Ottawa).

From there his career took him to Federal Policing Operational Information Management and he subsequently promoted to Inspector in Federal Policing in 2013.

C/Supt. Baranyi transferred to  Alberta in 2014 and assumed command of the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team. In March 2016, John promoted to Superintendent and became the Assistant Criminal Operations Officer- National Security in British Columbia before being promoted to Chief Superintendent here in O Division.
