On Wednesday, November 7th, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Queens District RCMP responded to an emergency call of a pedestrian/vehicle collision.
A young woman was walking on Route 13 in New Glasgow when she was struck by a vehicle travelling in a southern direction. Police believe the collision was a result of a number of factors: the woman walking on the travelling portion of the roadway; the sun obscuring the vision of the vehicle driver; and, the collision taking place on a blind crest.
The woman, who is not from Canada but here visiting P.E.I. was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she remains being treated for serious but for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate and asking the public to come forward if anyone witnessed the collision.
