October 24, 2018
Malpeque Bay, Prince Edward Island

News release

On October 23, 2018 at approximately 11:00 A.M., RCMP received a call of a vessel in distress in Malpeque Bay. Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) responded and located the boat which had been going round in circles unoccupied.

Rescuers searched the water for the lone occupant and located him alive and rescued him from the water. He was transported to Prince County Hospital for treatment.

The boater, a 29 year old male from Lennox Island, advised that he had been fishing by himself when a large wave knocked him overboard.

The person who located the unoccupied boat and phoned 911 and JRCC's quick response made all the difference in this positive outcome.
