9-1-1 call leads to charges of Break/Enter to Commit Robbery

On Thursday evening, June 14, at approximately 11:40 p.m., officers of Kings District RCMP responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an assault in progress at a residence on Queens Road Extension in Montague.

Officers responded to the scene and located the 71 year-old male resident with several non life threatening injuries. The suspect, a 28 year-old male from Montague, was taken into custody without incident at residence in the area.

The male was taken to Georgetown Courthouse the morning of June 15, and was remanded until his next court appearance in Charlottetown on June 18. The accused is facing charges of Break/Enter to Commit Robbery, two charges of Assault with Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property, and two charges of Breach of Probation.

The suspect and the victim were known to each other and RCMP considers events and isolated incident.
