Queens District RCMP Apprehend Four Impaired Drivers in Less than a Week

On Thursday, January 19, 2017 just after 3:00 PM, a motorist from New Brunswick telephoned 911 to report a vehicle on the Warren Grove road whom the complainant believed was being operated by an impaired driver. When an RCMP member arrived, he found a 26 year old driver from Brae, Prince Edward Island in care and control of a motor vehicle sitting idle on the side of Highway 225. The driver was brought back to the Queens District Office at Maypoint where samples of his breath were obtained and found to be well over the legal limit.

On Friday, January 20, 2017 at approximately 20:30 PM, a member of the Queens District RCMP received a call from about a possible impaired driver at the Shell Convenience Store near the causeway. As the members arrived on scene, the suspect vehicle was located driving away from area. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 44 year old male from Charlottetown showed signs of intoxication. The driver was taken to Maypoint where he refused to provide samples of his breath. This was his third occurrence for impaired driving since 2014 - of which some charges are still before the courts.

On Saturday, January 21, 2017 just after 10:00 PM, an RCMP member working in Stratford, received a call about a vehicle in the ditch on Langley Road, in Stratford. A number of passers-by were attempting to push the vehicle back onto the roadway. When the 'good Samaritans' discovered the driver was potentially impaired, they ceased assisting. The 44 year old female driver from Stratford was taken to Maypoint Detachment where samples of her breath were obtained which were twice the legal limit.

On Sunday, January 22, 2017 just before 2:30 AM, a member of the Queens District RCMP observed a vehicle travelling on Highway 1 through Cornwall without its headlights on. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver, a 29 year old male driver from Cornwall was taken back to Maypoint where samples of his breath were found to be just over the legal limit.
