Meet Lenny.

At 27 years old, he's our oldest horse.

For 12 years, Lenny toured across Canada and internationally performing with the Musical Ride.

He retired from a life on the road in 2013.

Now he's enjoying a more leisurely life with his retired friends in the paddocks.

He also spends some of his time training new riders as a school horse.

Like Lenny, most of our horses retire to become school horses.

We need these retired performers' skills and experience to help train our new riders.

And some are occasionally adopted into new homes, like equine therapy centres.

There's no set age when our horses retire from the Musical Ride.

It's when they show signs that they're ready.

Generally between the ages of 15 and 17.

One thing's for certain, our horses receive the best care and lots of love their entire life.
