The investigation indicates that a Hyundai Santa Fe failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, travelling through the ditch, and struck a woman and a Toyota Corolla located off the roadway. The woman was standing near the Corolla.

The passenger of the Santa Fe, a child from Berwick, was transported to hospital by EHS for observation.

The driver of the Santa Fe, a 37-year-old Berwick woman, was exhibiting signs of impairment. She was arrested and transported to the Kings District East RCMP Detachment in New Minas where a drug evaluation was completed by a Drug Recognition Expert. The woman was not physically injured in the collision.
