On September 9, 2024, at approximately 6:50 pm, RCMP received a call of a male pointing a firearm on Dufferin Street, in The Pas.
Officers were able to determine that the suspect approached a vehicle in the parking lot of a business, pointed a handgun at the driver, grabbed a shotgun from him and took off on foot.
A short time later, the male was observed climbing onto a garage by an off-duty RCMP officer. When he approached the male, the suspect took off and attempted to enter a vehicle. However, the alarm went off, and the suspect fled on foot.
Officers on patrol located the suspect who refused to stop. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was arrested without incident. The suspect was found to be WANTED on a Canada-wide warrant for being Unlawfully at Large.
Kurt Nasekapow, 26, has been charged with:
Robbery to Steal Firearm
Careless Use of Firearm
Pointing a Firearm
Resist Arrest
Mischief
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Disobey Court Order
Weapons Possession Contrary to Order x4
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
He was remanded into custody.
