On July 23, 2024, at approximately 7:45 pm, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Chalet Beach Road, approximately three kilometres east of Highway 9, in the RM of St. Andrews. A passerby came across a vehicle along a gravel roadway that was partially submerged in water in the ditch.
Officers attended the scene. The local fire department and Emergency Medical Services were also on scene. A 69-year-old woman from the RM of Rockwood was located deceased inside the vehicle. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.
It appears the vehicle she was driving lost control on the gravel and went into the ditch, rolling onto its roof. There was approximately three feet of water in the ditch at the time of the collision.
The deceased was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
The investigation continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
