Update – Warrant of arrest issued for dangerous driving causing death

May 10, 2023, Hope River - A warrant of arrest has been issued for the 27-year-old Charlottetown woman for dangerous driving causing death in relation to a fatal collision in Hope River in October of 2022.

On October 21, 2022, Queens District RCMP responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision in Hope River PEI, where a 47-year-old New Glasgow man died. An extensive investigation was completed and 27-year-old Charlottetown woman, Priyanka Jom, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and a warrant for her arrest was issued on April 25 of 2023.

Police believe that Jom may no longer be in Canada, anyone with information concerning her whereabouts is asked to contact the Queens District RCMP 902-368-9300. This investigation is ongoing.

A 47-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Hope River, PEI.

On October 21, 2022, at approximately 7 a.m., members of the Queens District RCMP, Island EMS and New Glasgow Fire Department responded to a report of a collision between a car and a SUV on Route 224. The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 47-year-old man from New Glasgow, PEI, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the SUV was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the driver of the SUV, travelling eastbound, crossed the centerline, colliding with the car travelling westbound.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the PEI Coroner's are assisting with the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to help determine the man's exact cause of death.

Traffic on Route 224 was reduced to one lane for approximately four hours, and has since re-opened. Members of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure assisted at the scene.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
