Spruce Plains RCMP respond to suspicious activity and make arrests

Stolen vehicle

On February 21, 2023, at approximately 11:00 pm, Spruce Plains RCMP responded to a call of two suspicious males on a rural property on Road 64 West, in the RM of Westlake-Gladstone.

It was reported that a vehicle with two males had driven onto the property, struck and killed the homeowner's dog and got stuck in the ditch. One of the males went to the residence and asked for help with getting the vehicle out of the ditch. The homeowners became suspicious and called police. The male suspect left the residence. The licence plate on the vehicle was checked and found to be stolen.

Officers responded and located the stolen vehicle. One male was still inside the vehicle and was arrested without incident.

A search of the property was conducted and the second suspect was found hiding in an outbuilding on the property.

A 28-year-old male from Sandy Bay First Nation is facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Failing to Comply and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

A 37-year-old male from Sandy Bay First Nation is facing a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

RCMP continue to investigate.
