On June 2, 2023, at approximately 4:15 pm, Souris RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a building on Main Street at 4th Street in Wawanesa, Manitoba. When officers arrived on scene, there was a large crowd gathered, and there was a large hole in the front of the building.

Investigation has determined that a 42-year-old female was the driver and lone occupant of a SUV that crashed into the front of the building located on 4th Street. The vehicle went backwards and then forward into the building again, before the driver backed the vehicle out of the building.

The driver exited the vehicle and was taken to local hospital, where she was treated for minor physical injuries and released.

There were a number of people inside the building at the time of the collision. None of them were physically injured.

Further investigation has determined that threats had been made to the business by the vehicle driver prior to the collision.

Charges are pending.
