RCMP is looking for public assistance in hate-motivated graffiti investigation

RCMP is asking for the public's help in solving racist and antisemitic graffiti painted on the O'leary Curling Club between April 25 and April 26.

On April 26, 2023 West Prince RCMP received a complaint that racist and antisemitic graffiti had been sprayed on an outbuilding at the O'Leary Curling Club between April 25 and April 26. O'Leary Town staff worked quickly to remove the markings and the RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in solving this offence.

"Incidents like this are disturbing for the entire community and the RCMP take this very seriously. Spray painting racist or antisemitic messages are treated as crimes motivated by hate. This incident is being investigated as a hate-motivated mischief and, should charges be laid, the hate motivation can be taken into account by the courts for increasing sentencing." – Constable Gavin Moore Media Relations Officer.
