RCMP is warning the public about sharing intimate images and blackmail.
RCMP continues to receive regular complaints that young Islanders have shared intimate images and then got blackmailed. Islanders are connecting online with new acquaintances who ask the victims to exchange intimate images. The victim doesn't know that this is a criminal at the other end of the keyboard posing as an interested partner. They then blackmail the victim by threatening to share the images unless they are paid. Any photos containing faces, tattoos or other identifiers are of the most value to these scammers.
