Powerview RCMP traffic stop leads to charges and seizure of weapons

On February 4, 2023, at approximately 12:05 am, RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Powerview-Pine Falls.

Open liquor was seen in the vehicle and the driver was asked to provide a sample of his breath, which he refused. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of drugs, bear spray, brass knuckles, a machete, batons and a conducted energy weapon.

The driver, a 47-year-old male from Powerview-Pine Falls, was arrested and is facing charges of:

Refusal to Comply with a Breath Demand
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon x2
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon in a Motor Vehicle x2
He is also facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act.

Powerview RCMP continue to investigate.
