Impaired driver crashes on top of Camper with 6 people inside, no injuries

May 19, 2023, North Tryon – RCMP arrested an impaired driver in North Tryon, PEI who crashed his car on top of a camper with 6 people sleeping inside. No one was injured.

On May 19, 2023, at approximately 1:20 am Police received a report of a crash on Route 1 in North Tryon. A car had been involved in a crash where it came to rest in a vertical position with the rear of the car pointing straight up and leaning on top of a tow behind camper. Six people were sleeping inside at the time of the collision, and no one was injured as a result of the crash. Extreme speed was an additional factor for this collision. A 45-year-old Mount Mellick man was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. He will appear in court on July 19 at 9am in Summerside Provincial Court.

The PEI Red Cross, Island EMS and Crapaud Fire Department all gave assistance in this incident.
